How important is our recycling program to you?  Please consider donating or taking time to complete the online form to share your thoughts.  Find the recycling guide and locations at the bottom of this page.  Also, if you happen to have prescription drugs needing disposed of, please take a moment to check out the Drug Collection Program.

JEFFERSON COUNTY RECYCLING

he Jefferson County Solid Waste Authority established 18 drop off recycling sites in Jefferson County.   The drop-off sites give residents the choice to recycle rather than throw valuable recyclables into the landfill.  These sites are close by, easy to use and are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Ongoing reductions in grant funding are jeopardizing the future of these sites.  The Authority needs support from the state and local community to keep these sites open.  The Authority pays a recycling hauler over $45,000 a year to collect the recyclables.  The hauler keeps the income from the sale of the recyclables for processing and transportation costs.  This income does not come back to the Authority.
If you want to make a difference and keep recycling in Jefferson County, please make a donation to the Authority to help pay for the cost of the sites.    Mail your check to the Jefferson County Solid Waste Authority, 351 Aviation Way, Suite 105, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
Also, please call, write, or visit your state and local representatives and let them know that you want recycling to stay in Jefferson County.  Let them know you think recycling is good for all of us, our families, our communities and our environment.  Ask them to support funding to keep recycling programs open.
Your help is needed NOW before it’s too late.  If you do nothing, the recycling programs in Jefferson County will close.    Please donate and contact your representatives today!
