CREATE's Certified Kitchen Project
Our kitchen project is under way. Once complete, we will have the opportunity to offer a certified, fully operational kitchen for use in cooking classes, canning, home-brewing, wine-making, etc... along with an opportunity for up-coming chefs to practice their skills. Interested in helping us make this happen? Please consider doing so by donating an Ace or Lowe's gift card or by donating funds to CREATE using this link. Thanks.
Borough of Brookville Logo Contest
Attention graphic designers and artists: We've teamed up with the Brookville Borough Board to help find a shiny new logo for Brookville, with help from the community. Deadline for logo submissions is May 17.
Art In The Park
This is our biggest event of the year and everyone is invited! This year we are instituting a Creative Kids Tent. Kids from Kindergarten through grade 12 will have the chance to make and sell their creations. We will also have plenty of artist exhibits, live music and activities for everyone. For more info, click the flyer!
The Community Garden is for everyone.
It's that time of the year and we're gearing up to share fresh produce with all. We've recently built a shed to store a water pump and tools, an info board has been installed to keep better communication, some cold cops have been planted, and once the temps reach good conditions, the rest of the crops will be planted. Our big mission this year is to make all community members feel welcome to take advantage of fresh, organic produce. Check our community calendar or join our facebook group to see when the work days are if you're interested in helping out. The garden is located on the EUM Church grounds, next to the pavilion.
Annual Earth Day Cleanup
We spent Sunday, April 21st with families and friends cleaning up trash in all of our local parks, as well as Main Street.. We truly appreciate everyone that helped us make our community cleaner and safer for our children.
Storytime Science is a big hit!
Don't miss May's class. It's the last one before Jackie's summer break.
Starting in September of 2012, Jackie Manno began hosting Storytime Science classes at the cafe on the second Saturday of the month at 10:00 am. Storytime science is a program for kids ages 4-10 that connects children's literature with a science concept. This past Saturday the kids became scientists by experimenting with physical and chemical reactions. Other experiments have included making bubbles, and cooking pancakes. The next Storytime Science will be on May 11 at 10:00 am. Please register your child by sending an email to us at [email protected]. We can accommodate 15 children. After the May 11 class, Storytime Science will be taking a break for the summer and will resume in September. A special thank you to Jackie Manno for donating her time and materials!
